Nehemiah 5

Nehemiah addresses the outcry of the poor Jews oppressed by wealthy brethren through exorbitant interest and debt slavery; he confronts the nobles and officials, commanding them to cease usury, restore properties and interest, and fear YHWH.[2][1] The people pledge obedience, and Nehemiah exemplifies generosity by not taking the governor's due, relying on YHWH's provision.

Restore cause to return please please to them — this day as the day their fields their open-fields their vineyards their vineyards their olive groves their olive trees and their houses and their houses and the hundredth and a hundred of of the money the silver and of the grain and the abundant grain the new wine the fresh-pressed grape-juice and the oil and the bright oil that that-which you you (masculine plural) are exacting creditors from them —

Then they said and they said We will restore we will cause to return and from them — not not we will require we will earnestly seek so thus we will do we will do as as that which you you say the one saying And I called and I called out - object-marker the priests the officiating-priests and made them swear and I made them swear to do to do or make according to this word as a spoken matter this this one

and-the-governors and the provincial governors the-former the first ones who that-which before-me before my face had-laden they made heavy upon upon the-people the gathered people and-they-took and they took from-them — for-bread in bread and-wine grape wine besides after, behind silver silver shekels standard weight-units forty forty even also their-servants their youths lorded they ruled over upon the-people the gathered people but-I and I not not did I did so thus because-of from the presence of fear awe-of God mighty ones
